April 2021 NEWSLETTER
From the Commander: The Post has once again elected yours truly as Post Commander. I am humbled by your confidence in my leadership. It seems this COVID crisis will never end, but I promise we will try our best to keep us alive, and to re-open as soon as possible. Speaking of which, we have lots of events coming up and we are looking for more ideas, so come on out and support us and give us your ideas! 10 Apr, 11am-3pm, Ham lunch. $10 a plate. 11 Apr, 12-? District 8 Convention, with lunch at 1pm, $7 a plate. 17 Apr, Post Swamp Cooler maintenance, 8am. Come out and watch us old farts fall off the roof! 1 May, 7:30-11am Breakfast. We want to have a breakfast/garage sale the 1st on each month. 15 May, possible Luau dinner. That should be fun! Prize from the Commander for best costume! 29 May, Memorial Day Flag displays at the graves of our veterans. Meet at the VFW at 7:30am. 1 Jun, Flag retrieval at 5 pm 4-6 June, State Convention in Albuquerque. If you plan to go, make your reservations now! If you know of any WWII Veterans who would like to take a 20 minute ride in a vintage WWII aircraft, DramFlights.org/Honor is offering. The cutoff is 1 June. If there are enough WWII vets from Clovis/Portales, they will even fly out of here. Flights will be sometime in July to September. We hosted the Clovis VA Clinic COVID-19 Shot Clinic on the 1st and 31st of March. We did a lot of good for our Veterans and the VA loves us. They are taking about coming back this fall for flu shots. Speaking of COVID, as restrictions ease up, we need to look for ideas and ways to occupy our Bingo Hall. Let’s get those folks coming back to the Post! How many people are interested in Post T-shirts? What would you like them to look like? I’m looking for ideas to keep us alive. Give me yours! Tom Hudspeth Commander, VFW Post 3015 Be safe and if you need help, call your Post! Thomas Hudspeth II Commander Post 3015 From the Quartermaster: Good news! We have renewed our
loan and are continuing to operate, hoping to stretch the money until we can
fully open. We have many upcoming events and need everyone’s support. Until then everyone come out and
support your VFW during the upcoming events. If you know of anyone that is on
hard times let us know we can pay their membership dues from the welfare

During our recent VA COVID Shot Clinic, hosted by the post, The VA Medical Center Director, Dr. Rodney S. Gonzales, showed up and was very agreeable to our returning to the VA Hospital in the near future (as soon as COVID, the CDC and our Governor lets us) We still take coffee and creamer to our veterans at the VA hospital in Amarillo. They still play Bingo for candy. We donate the candy too. We are not able to go and play Bingo yet, but we can still keep them smiling in beds white. Remember we are still here to give back to our community and the men and women of our country. “Keep’ em Smiling in Beds of White” Arleen Smith Auxiliary President MOCA PT5 From
